ECU engaged IA Design to make major modifications to the B13 building – Broadcast Radio Facility Studio. IA Design was tasked with reconfiguring the floor plan in line with a draft schematic plan presented by ECU. The facility required varying levels of acoustic treatment, as well as demolition works and a new built environment.

IA Design introduced new ways of working by reconfiguring the spaces to create efficiencies incorporating a design that reflected and enhanced ECU’s branding values and in keeping with the current construction on level 2. IA Design had to ensure that the modifications were adaptable to changing requirements and had the flexibility to meet business requirements including new technology.

The new space provides a comprehensive mix of teaching spaces and a Media Lounge designed to inspire students, staff and international visitors alike. The facility offers an insight for students to the world of work within a broadcasting industry by utilizing the studios. The final space attracts future students and professional staff.
